ST Crane Hire of South Africa recently sent its new Sany SAC6000T7 all-terrain crane to work on its first job: erecting turbines at a wind farm in the Western Cape. Acquired in late 2023, ST Crane’s SAC6000T7 has a 600-tonne (661-U.S.-ton) lifting capacity and a maximum lifting height of 126 metres (413 feet). The manufacturer says the crane’s efficient assembly and disassembly processes help make it suitable for high lifts of heavy objects.

    A Repeat Sany Customer

ST Crane Hire says it is one of the fastest-growing companies in South Africa’s crane hire sector, with customers in the construction, mining, and wind power industries. The company owns more than 10 Sany cranes, including 250-t (276-U.S.-t) SAC2500E and 450-t (496-U.S.-t) SAC4500T all-terrain models.

The Sany SAC6000T7 crane delivered to ST Crane Hire is powered by two Mercedes-Benz engines with Stage 3 emissions controls. A ZF transmission applies the drive engine’s power to the carrier’s Kessler axles. ST Crane Hire’s SAC6000T7 also has a super lift system and a 143-t (158-U.S.-t) counterweight. An 84-m (276-ft) luffing jib, a Y-guide, and a remote control system add to the all-terrain crane’s versatility in anticipation of customer needs.

“We eagerly anticipate the unveiling of future Sany products, which will undoubtedly bolster our competitive edge and further enhance our position within the market,” says ST Crane Hire Director Ricky Rogerio.

    Sany SAC6000T7-8 Specs

Sany’s SAC6000T7-8 all-terrain crane is available to customers outside of Europe and the U.S. It has a 7-section, 90.1-m (296-ft) main boom with a single-cylinder pinning system. The crane can travel with its counterweight to reduce supplemental trailer requirements.

    The SAC6000T7-8 features all-wheel steering, a 14x8 drive-wheel configuration, and a top transit speed of 70 km/h (43.5 mph). The crane has a heavy-duty suspension for off-road travel and boasts a 45% gradability rating.
