Liebherr LR 11000 Helps Verschoor Erect Wind Turbines In The Netherlands
Dutch crane rental company Verschoor recently expanded its fleet with by acquiring a Liebherr LR 11000 crane. The new lattice boom crawler crane is the Sassenheim-based company’s most powerful to date and has already been put to work installing two new wind turbines at a wind farm in Vanikum, Germany.
The LR 11000 assembled tower sections, nacelles, and rotor blades at 169 metres (554 feet). To complete the work, which included placing the 117-tonne (129-U.S.-ton) gearbox, Verschoor configured the crane with a 168-m (551-ft) main boom and a 15-m (49-ft) lattice-type fixed jib.
Lifting capacity at height was a major selling point for the crane. “The lifting power of the LR 11000 is enormous,” says Manager Maarten Verschoor Jr.
About The Liebherr LR 11000
The LR 11000 is designed for infrastructure, wind power, industrial construction, and port handling work. The crane was made to easily move from one site to another with a transport width of 3.5 m (11.5 ft) and a transport height of 3.2 m (10.5 ft).
The crane’s V-frame has an adjustment distance of 17 m (56 ft) and moves the 450-t (496-U.S.-t) derrick ballast into position to reduce the work of ballast handling. The LR 11000 has a maximum load capacity of 1,000 t (1,102 U.S. t), a maximum hoist height of 220 m (722 ft), and a maximum radius of 184 m (604 ft).
The crawler crane is equipped with Liebherr’s Liccon2 crane control system, which simplifies crane set-up and operation and provides the security of failsafe features like an LMB load moment limiter. The LR 11000 is compatible with HVO (hydrogen vegetable oil) fuel alternatives, which can lower carbon emissions by up to 90%.
